It was the morning in the spring. Butterflies and bees were flying towards the gardens. The fields were filled with colours and grains, and were dancing with the wind. A young boy was running in the field. He was giggling, taking heavy breath. He was happy.

"Adil! Don't go too far," said the Mother from the porch.

Adil stopped, took some breath and said, "It is a perfect day. Look, it is cold and warm."

The Mother laughed and said, "Atleast wear your torso. Your father will be here in a while. And there are some guests coming."

"Can I go to the river side and take bath?" asked Adil.

The Mother acted like she's thinking to annoy Adil. "Please Mother!" said Adil running towards the house. Mother laughed and said, "Okay, but take Luna with you." Luna started wiggling her tail and followed Adil to his room

Adil took a small bag. He packed his towel and some other clothes. Mother was smiling and looking at him from his room's door. Adil quickly packed his bag. Hugged the Mother. Mother kissed him on the forehead and stroked his hair. Adil smiled at Mother then ran back to the fields, to the river side with Luna. "Stay safe and keep an eye on Luna" said the Mother.

A while later, Father returned. A car followed his car to the facade of house. Two priests got off from the car and followed Father to the guest room. The table in the guest room, amidst the couches, was decorated with fruits and flowers.

"We are so fortunate to have you here. With your blessings, we are prospering and happy" said the Mother with her head down.

Both the priests smiled and asked "Where is the boy?"

"Adil is at the river side. He'll be back in a while," said the Mother with a smile.

"Adil!? Is... Is the boy Muslim?" asked the priest Joseph with a confused face.

"Yes," said the Mother.

Both the priests looked at each other and started talking under the breath.

"Is something wrong Mr. Joseph?" asked the Father.

"Yes. Mr. Smith when you said you adopted a boy. We thought you adopted a Christian boy," said priest Joseph.

The Mother with a worrying face, came forward and said, "But we don't have any problem with that. He's free to choose any religion but I think for now, he's too young for that."

The priest Joseph ignored the Mother, turned to priest Robert and again started talking under the breath. He then turned to the Father and said, "This is not how things work. If you truly believe in Christianity and are the children of Jesus, we should baptize him. And then we'll give him a new name, a Christian name."

The Mother turned to the Father, worried and about to cry. "This is not right. We should not do this," she said.

"They won't advice us something wrong. They know about these things," the Father said to mother. He then turned to the priests and said, "I apologize for my wife's behavior. When we should baptize him and give a name?"

"Tomorrow is good. Come to the church at your usual time," said the priest Robert.

The Mother was about to say something but got interrupted by the Father. "We have to do it. We can't just forget the traditions. If priests are saying then we definitely should," He said in a loud voice.

The Mother started to cry. She looked at the Father with distrust. "We adopted him because I thought you were agreed with the point. We talked about it," she said.

"Yes I did. But we should agree with what priests are saying," said the Father with more loudly.

"If we won't do this, it'll bring a misfortune to this family. God will be angry," the priest Joseph said. He continued, "A man who doesn't know what his religion is, will always be confused and lost. The boy doesn't know anything. It is better to do it now then later."

The Mother looked at window and found Adil standing there, looking inside. "Adil! Come inside. When did you return from the river side?" She said startling. She wiped her tears in hurry and tried to put on a smile but failed to do it.

"I... I found this wounded sparrow lying on the road side. I thought I should take it home and take care of it," Adil said showing the sparrow in his hands. Luna was jumping and circling Adil because she was excited for saving a sparrow. Adil looked at the Mother and started crying.

"Adil, why are you crying? Come here. It's okay. It's okay. We'll save it. Don't cry," the Mother said walking towards Adil.

Adil put the sparrow on the doorway. He ran towards the fields. He was taking heavy breath. He was crying.
